Sans Pertinence
Dusty Film Festival & LA Sunset Festival
Yet another great character and another fun film. John plays an Austrian soldier, Johannes Versin, captured by American victors in WWII France. Confronted about his involvement with the death of German jews and in particular, the family of one of his captors Private Berkstein (Evan Hart), Versin hides in the shelter of his own mind to escape the horror of his worst enemy--the noise of war and the lists of Jews he prepared for processing. An intimate look into the emotional realities of war and the identity of a young man who can not identify with Germany. Click here for Still Photos and Quicktime clips.
Just a Couple of Guys
John Cooney and Susan Batson are the co-creators of this new "histogram in motion" about the lives of superstars Jerry Lewis and Dean Martin. Co-written with Demetrios Kalkanis, the play seeks to tell what happened in the private lives of these two great performers. We all knew Lewis & Martin as a comic duosome but no one has taken such a daring guess at what really happened behind closed...and sometimes open doors.
The brilliance and audacity of these two men is both honored and revealed in this daring show of shows. Soon to be produced in New York City.
Info on Susan Batson can be found here.
Social Grace (2005) - Tribeca Film Festival
Produced by Juan Carlos Zapata, and directed by B.D. Wong, John Cooney plays a sassy Jeffrey department store clerk. Shot in Manhattan, John is proud to be able to work with super stars such as BD Wong, Gale Harold and Margaret Cho. Thanks B.D.--it was great if even for a night!
AARP National Network Spot
Catch me as the Polo Hero in this National Network Advertisement for AARP and their Social Security Agenda. Yup...Brad Bellamy took my watch in this gig and yup they gave it back. Thanks GDSM Advertising and Hungry Man Productions in Austin, TX and LA.
Payne Premium (2004)
Produced by Guillermo Suescum Productions, starring John Cooney as Todd Payne and Quincy Bowyer as Julie Anne Payne. Shot on location in the border town of Wendover, UT and Wendover, NV. Oh...the director wishes his name burried in the salt flats of Utah.
